Languedoc-Roussillon
Languedoc-Roussillon (Languedoc-Roussillon)
Located in southern France, bordering Spain and the Mediterranean Sea.
This is a rich diversifying region of mountains, plains and coastline. There is a plentiful wine culture in the area with vineyards totaling three times the combined area of those of Bordeaux. The main industrial areas are Nimes and Montpellier.
The word Languedoc originates from the term "language of the Oc" or 'Occitan’ language, whereby the inhabitants of the area once spoke the language of Oc in place of the native French language of the times.
The region boasts an excellent climate and beautiful long sandy beaches of which those of the Camargue area are particularly popular.
