Located in northern France, Lorraine is the only French region bordering three countries; Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The region is known as the birthplace of heavy industry in France, with textiles, mining and steel works in the forefront, served by the equally important river network of the Moselle, Marne, Meuse and Meurthe rivers.
